Anatone, Washington
Fields Spring State Park offers a rare kind of stillness in eastern Washington. Walk ancient trails beneath cedar canopies, cast a line into seasonal springs, and sleep under a sky full of stars — just an hour from the Palouse.
About the Park
Nestled between the golden wheat fields of the Palouse and the rugged ridges of the Blue Mountains foothills, Fields Spring State Park is a place where the land slows down. The park takes its name from a natural spring that has fed the surrounding watershed for centuries — a quiet source of life in an otherwise dry landscape.
Established as a state park in 1965, it preserves a rare patch of riparian forest — bigleaf maple, western red cedar, and Douglas fir — that feels worlds away from the open farmland just miles in any direction.
What Awaits You
Every season reveals a different face of Fields Spring. Here's what makes each visit unforgettable.
Over four miles of unmaintained and lightly maintained trails wind through meadow, riparian corridor, and old-growth forest. Each path reveals something new — a cascade, a clearing, a stand of cedars that have stood for centuries.
Plan your hike
From spring through fall, the park's namesake spring feeds a creek stocked with trout. It's a quiet, accessible spot for wading and fly fishing — no boat needed, just patience and a valid Washington state fishing license.

The group camping area offers a handful of sites with picnic tables and fire rings, nestled among pines. It's designed for small groups — families, scouts, or friends — who want a simple, screen-free night in the woods.
